The project activity consists of improving energy efficiency at EMSS, a scrap-based electric arc furnace process steel producer, by the implementation of four sub-projects:

1. Reconstruction of thermal and heating furnaces, reducing specific natural gas (NG) consumption per ton of steel heated in the thermal and heating furnaces;

2. Installation of a new vacuum system with dry mechanical pumps that have high dust resistance;

3. Installation of an arc ladle furnace for steel form casting; and

4. Replacing the old pump system for the steel press with a more efficient pump.

With the implementation of the above energy efficiency measures, EMSS will be able to reduce direct and indirect CO₂ emissions in its production of steel and steel parts.
