Construction of electric arc furnace shop with open heart furnace production decommissioning at OJSC “NSMMZ”, Revda, Russia

OJSC Nizhneserginsky Metizno-Metallurgichesky Plant (NSMMZ) is a pioneer of metallurgical industry in Ural part of Russia. It was established in 1734. The goal of the proposed Joint Implementation (JI) project is to reduce impact of the steelmaking process on the climate by construction of mini-plants that would use electric furnaces steelmaking technology and produce section steel by the more energy efficient continuous casting machines. Existed open-hearth steel production process was replaced by an electric arc steelmaking process due to fossil fuels consumption reduction.
