OJSC “Amurmetal” is the only producer of steel, such as long products and sheet products, in the Russian Far East. Amurmetal capacity is about 1 million tons of steel per year and will be increased to 2 million tons of steel per year (after EAF#2 running). Amurmetal is constructing a new Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) #2 and upgrade existing EAF #1. The goal of the JI project is to reduce impact of the steelmaking process on the climate through modernization of the existing production process by application of a more energy efficient technology.
