Severstal is an international steel and mining company. The goal of the proposed Joint Implementation (JI) project is to reduce impact of the ironmaking process on the climate by modernization of the existing production process by application of more energy efficient technology. Emissions of GHG were reduced significantly as a result of the project implementation. In order to achieve the goal of the project, Severstal constructed Coke Oven Battery (COB) #3 from scratch and constructed the Blast Furnace (BF) #4. Also new energy efficient auxiliary equipment was introduced (a top-pressure recovery turbine and coke dry-quenching plant).
