The proposed JI project envisages the implementation of eight sub-projects to increase the energy efficiency of steel mill’s operations. The modernization of the air separating unit and compressor station, the switch fuel from NG to COG+BFG+NG mixtures, the refurbishment of the energy distribution system, the installation of a new gas burner, turbo generators, BF top recovery turbine and heat recovery in the refractory and lime rotary kilns – all of these measures make the project successful. The overall objective of the JI Project is to generate Emission Reduction Units (ERUs) by reducing about 1.6 million tons of CO2 emissions before the end of 2012 by saving around 580 GWh electricity and 35 Million m3 of NG per year.
