Coal mine named after M.P. Barakov is one of five coal mines owned by JSC “Krasnodoncoal”. GHG emission reduction measures of the project will include:
1. Capturing methane previously released into the atmosphere from the mine’s degasification system; to utilize it for thermal energy generation to cover the heating demand of the mine; and to flare the remaining un-utilized methane;
2. Natural gas combustion for the purpose of heat generation, which would have happened in the absence of the project activity.
The project stages include reconstruction of the boiler house, modernization of gas preparation station, and installation of a flare.
