Slag Usage and Switch from Wet to Dry Process at Yugcement, Ukraine

The project aims to significantly decrease the emissions from two sources: fossil fuel combustion and calcination. The project foresees the adoption of blast furnace slag (BFS) as a decarbonised raw material in the raw meal fed to the kilns. This would reduce both the emission due to the calcinations (or decarbonisation) process and due to fuel consumption. According to the plan, BFS was scheduled to be added starting from 1 January 2009 on. Further on, it is planned to build a new dry kiln and switch from wet to dry process from beginning of 2012.
