The energy produced from renewable sources is generated from natural resources as wind power, hydro power, solar power, tides and geothermal heat (naturally replenished sources). The main renewable energy technologies that produce no GHGs include:
-
Wind power – construction of Wind Power Parks;
-
Hydropower – construction of Hydro power Stations;
-
Solar power – construction of photovoltaic stations;
-
Biofuel – use of natural produced biogas, liquid biofuel and solid biomass;
-
Geothermal power.
At the end of 2007, the worldwide capacity of installed wind-powered generators was 94.1 GW, although wind produces about 1% of world-wide electricity. Globally, wind power generation increased more than fivefold between 2000 and 2007.
