Sukhodilska-Skhidna coal mine, Ukraine 2007

This JI project takes place at the “Coal mine Sukhodilska-Skhidna” located closed to town of Sukhodilsk in Ukraine. Global Carbon is developing all documentation for this project including an approach to set the baseline and estimate the emissions reductions.

The purpose of the project is the avoidance of methane emissions into the atmosphere at the Coal mine Sukhodilska-Skhidna. There are three sources of Coal Mine Methane (CMM) at the mine: from surface wells, trough underground drainage system and from ventilation. The Coal Mine Methane produced by surface wells at Sukhodilska, will be used to replace heat currently produced by coal boilers. Two CMM fired boilers will supply heat to the mine. The existing on-site coal boilers will be shut down.

Emission Reductions

Total abatement of GHG emissions are around 322,606 tonnes of CO2e.
