The project is going to be implemented at OJSC “Sukholozhskcement”. It was found in 1992 as a legal successor of Novosukhologsky cement plant that started operation in 1972. The plant is owned by the German cement producer Dyckerhoff AG since 1994. It is the eighth biggest cement producer in Russia and the largest cement plant in Uralwith annual capacity of 2.6 million tonnes. The cement production on four wet rotary kilns amounted to 2.3 million tonnes or 4.2% of total cement production in Russia in 2008. 90% of plant consumers are located in Sverdlovsk and Tyumen area.
The plant produces grey cement and white cement. The quality of produced cement is the best in Ural region that is confirmed by the license provided by the American Petroleum Institute and international audit on compliance with ISO 9002-96 and ISO 9001-2001.
The goal of this proposed Joint Implementation (JI) project is to use a more energy efficient dry production process and thus significantly reduce the emissions associated with a cement production as well as increase the cement production capacity at the Sukhologskcement plant. The plant is expected to be commissioned in mid 2010.
Emission Reductions
The total emissions reductions are around 496,205 tonnes of CO2e.
